In a chloride atmosphere, Carbon Steel ASTM A516 GR70 Plates has greater resilience to pitting and crevice erosion. It can endure much more time and misuse before wearing out. It also has high stress-to-rupture, creep, and tensile strength at high temperatures, as well as exceptional corrosion protection and strength characteristics. All standard hot working methods can be used on it. It is used in electricity production, including conventional and nuclear sources, as well as flue gas desulfurization devices. Because most traditional fusion and resistance techniques can be used to weld this steel, oxyacetylene welding should be avoided.
