Grade 253MA Plates is designed for harsh service environments such as flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems. In severely corrosive settings containing sulphurous media, chlorides, and other halides, the alloy outperforms this steel.If consistent feeds and low speeds are employed, the hardenability of this steel will be lowered. In general, non-corrosive media will not attack these molybdenum-containing grades. It should be sufficient to withstand regular exposure in most highly corrosive situations. This product may be used for all conventional hot working operations since it is easily welded and processed using standard shop fabrication methods. It is easily moulded and drawn and cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
