Stainless steel is a group of iron-based alloys that are corrosion and heat resistant. Stainless steel is also recognized as being the most widely used steel on the global market. This resistance to attack is provided by a naturally occurring chromium-rich oxide film that forms on the steel’s surface. One of stainless steel is the most distinguishing characteristics is its minimum chromium content of 10.5 percent. A round bar is a long, cylindrical metal bar that has many industrial and commercial applications. Shafts appear to be one of the most common applications.

Stainless steel is used to produce steel rounds in large quantities. Due to stainless steel’s increased corrosion and acid resistance, these round bars are used for machining, such as fasteners, grills, and construction. It’s possible that other sizes are available. Round steel bars are available in hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and other metal types.

One of the stainless steel grades used in manufacturing is Stainless Steel 304 / 304L / 304H Round Bars. Grade 304 Stainless Steel is a non-hardened ferritin-based, straight-chromium steel with high corrosion resistance and formability. It has good corrosion resistance and machinability, as well as useful mechanical properties. Because of its resistance to nitric acid, it could be used in certain chemical applications.

Stainless Steel 304 Round Bar has some great applications and they are: –

  • Element Supports.
  • Chimney Liners.
  • Automotive trim.
  • Lashing Wire.
  • Stove trim rings.
  • Linings for dishwashers.
  • Refrigerator cabinet panels.
  • Fasteners.

This grade is ideal for large, complex geometries because it is easily formable. In the appliance industry, this grade even has benefits accruing qualities, making it a better candidate for dishwasher lining, refrigerator panels, and stove trim rings. Because of its strength, this round bar can withstand high and difficult conditions. Grade 304 is a straight-chromium ferritin alloy with a wide range of mechanical properties. It’s also extremely versatile. Only a few of the advantages include extreme durability, high elasticity, and high tensile strength. They can also withstand being out of whack.

Stainless Steel 304 Round Bars Heat Treatment

  • Solution Annealing: – Heat to 815-845°C, then cool slowly in the furnace to 600°C before air cooling for 12 hours per 25mm of thickness. When the temperature is gradually reduced from 540°C to 400°C, brittleness develops.
  • Sub-Critical anneal: – heat to 760-815°C then cool by air or water.
  • This grade would not be formed by thermal treatment.
