There are a variety of factors to be taken into consideration when choosing the best products for use in challenging industrial conditions. The reason why Hastelloy Alloy Round Bars is used in tough conditions were attributed to the properties of the nickel alloy. It is a superalloy of nickel-chromium with a high inclusion of molybdenum (15-17%). There are also controlled quantities of tungsten and iron, with a carefully limited carbon content. Low carbon level minimizes deposition of carbide during heat treatment and welding. This means that while the metal is used in welded systems, it maintains outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. In other materials, welded areas may become weaker after exposure to heat during welding and are thus more resistant to corrosion.
Corrosion resistance of the material is one of the key highlights. This is very resistant to general corrosion, such as stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, including in very extreme conditions. This is therefore strongly immune to sulphuric, hydrochloric and phosphoric acids; extremely oxidizing, acidic and acid chlorides; and solvents, traditional and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, liquid chlorine gas, hypochlorites and chlorine solutions. This is what makes Hastelloy C276 Round Bars so widely known in the chemical processing industry. It also has excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, particularly under crevice conditions.
For such a broad variety of durable properties, it is no wonder that Hastelloy Alloy C276 Round Bars were used in so many commercial applications. For example, it is used in flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems to regulate air pollution from electrical power plants. In comparison to other alloys, Hastelloy alloy C276 has been shown to be capable of withstanding a higher chloride content prior to the onset of localized corrosion.

The strong molybdenum content of Hastelloy C276 Round Bars helps to build pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. It is utilized in the more extreme areas of waste fluid treatment systems, where other materials may not be able to deal with severe environments.
